Cookies & analytics
How this interactive report measures usage, what it keeps on your device, and the choices you have. Nothing is shared with Google until you say yes.
What this notice covers
What we do here
This notice explains how the interactive IRMSA Risk Report uses cookies and analytics. The Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA) is responsible for this site. We use two Google tools to understand how the report is read, so we can make it better. There are no accounts or logins, we never build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share your information.
Google Analytics
Counts visits and which sections are read, so we can see what is useful and improve it. It measures patterns, not people — it does not know your name or contact details.
Google Tag Manager
Lets us look after the measurement tools without re-editing the site each time. It only loads once you accept.
On your device
What gets stored
If you accept, Google saves a small file (a cookie) in your browser that tells repeat visits apart, so the same person is not counted twice. It does not hold your name or contact details.
Whether or not you accept, this site keeps a note of your cookie choice and a few reading settings on your own device. These stay on your device, are never sent to Google, and simply keep the reader working.
If you browse with scripts turned off, no analytics load and none of these Google cookies are set.
Staying in control
Your choices
Accepting is entirely up to you, and the report works fully either way — so nothing is withheld if you say no. Analytics stay switched off until you accept. You can change your mind whenever you like: reopen the choices below, or clear this site's cookies in your browser.
Who sees it
Who receives it, and where it goes
Google handles the analytics data on our behalf, under its data-processing terms. Because Google is a global service, this can mean your information is processed on servers outside South Africa. We do not pass your information to anyone else.
How long we keep it
How long it is kept
Google's analytics cookies last up to two years and then expire on their own. The record of your cookie choice stays until you change it or clear your browser storage.
POPIA & GDPR
Your rights
You give your consent for analytics freely, and you can take it back at any time. Under POPIA and the GDPR you can also ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how it is used.
If something is not right, please raise it with us through IRMSA (see the full policy). You can also complain to a regulator — in South Africa, the Information Regulator; in the EU or UK, your local data-protection authority.
